Just after we put Nora to bed on Saturday night, we surprised her with a call from Aunt Tiffany!

The Little Things

I’m starting to understand why parents tell you “enjoy every moment” because “it goes by so fast.” It’s so true. Nora’s changing practically daily. We’re trying to document all the little things she does because she may grow out of them by next week. Here’s some of the ones I want to remember.

  • She stares at me whenever I eat. She and Remy both. They stop whatever they were doing and just stare whenever I bring lunch into the room.
  • When she gets excited, she hits her stomach with both hands. I think she’s flapping her arms and her tummy gets in the way. But maybe she means to hit it. It does make a cool thumping sound.
  • She is one determined little munchkin. She will spend 5 minutes trying to reach one toy only to have it roll out of her hands. Then she tries again. All the while grunting like she’s doing a complete aerobic workout.
  • She feels objects by strumming her fingers on them. All the time. She’ll be half asleep when her hand bumps into my knee or something and she starts flicking her fingers back and forth on it.
  • I LOVE when she lays her head on my shoulder and plays with my hair with one of her hands.
  • Nora will be playing on the floor, making little noises and moving around. Whenever there’s a pause, I’ll look at her only to find her staring at me, waiting to give me a huge smile.
  • She sighs. As she settles down to go to sleep or coming down off a big giggle session. She sighs like she understands the process of transition.
  • Nora’s been touching her ears a lot lately. I knew the chances of an ear infection are low right now and could not figure out what was going on. Then last night, I noticed how long her hair is getting. It’s touching her ears now and I think it tickles.
  • The tired fake cry. She’s tired, but not enough to really cry. Still, she wants you to know, so she makes these pitiful little attempts while battling the urge to smile.
  • How she ends up being the one to cheer me up instead of the other way around. If I’m tired or a little flustered trying to get things done, she’s just happy. She smiles and touches my face and makes me realize how blessed my life is every single minute.

    Food Fridays

Last week we tried this for the first time and already, this week, she’s got that
bottom lip open like a bird. She seems to be loving it, too!

    Working towards a solution…

Nora cheers me on as I put together her new toy that will keep her contained.

    Little bit of a problem.

Nora very quickly rolls away from her little play area. Oftentimes she ends up tangled in the chair legs.

    …and Remy’s ball

Remy turns two this month – yes, only two! So his picture will rule this site over the
weekend. When he’s not sleeping, he’s working full-time as a standup comedian for Nora.
Seriously she just loves this dog and is always laughing hysterically at him as seen in the
    video below.

    Trying solids…

Five months marks the first attempt at solids. It went about as you’d expect.
