First Trimester Trivia
Sep 29 2008 – by Lauren in Baby
I am very happy that it’s the second trimester. (Wahoo!!!) I feel better, things smell better, and I can cook dinner without passing out before eating it.
Here’s some answers to questions we’ve been asked and random trivia about the first three months.
When’s the due date?
March 6th.
When do we get to find out if it’s a boy or a girl?
We could find out at the end of the month. But we’re going to wait until the delivery.
Do you have a feeling about the sex of the baby?
Yes. Josh and I both think it’s a boy. Which means it’s a girl.
Any names picked out?
Yes. But we’re not sharing them just yet. We want to be sure we’re not going to change our minds before declaring names.
Have you felt the baby move?
I honestly can’t say for sure, but I think I have.
How did I tell Josh?
Not very gracefully. I took the test really early. I saw the control line, which was thick and dark blue. Next to it was a line that was so light and pale and non-committal. If I looked at it too long, it disappeared. But each time I convinced myself it wasn’t there, I saw it. Like a distant rainbow or comet. Only incredibly frustrating. So I decided to bring in Josh for his opinion by regressing 20 years and yelling “Jooooooooooshhhhhh!” in a voice so whiny it surprised me.
Then I ran in his office. He was on the phone. With his mom. Shoo–oot. So I backed up out of the room, hoping she hadn’t heard me. (Come to think of it, I still don’t know if she did.) After they hung up, I walked back in, hung my head, showed him the test and whined, “I can’t read it.”
Josh’s response: “Oh, my. What did you do?”
And ever since he saw that puny, wimpy little line, Josh has been very confident and sure that we are having a baby.
How’d you handle the nausea?
Uh. Well…
Most Surprising Aversion: Starbucks. I know, I know, I couldn’t believe it either, but it’s true. I couldn’t even walk by one without a wave of nausea.
Weirdest Taste Change: It’s like I forgot processed sugar existed. My usual sweet tooth was replaced by a greasy, fried anything tooth. I could still eat sweet stuff, I just didn’t think to.
First Thing That Caused Me to Run to the Bathroom: A direct shot of Remy’s dog breath, right to the face.
Things That Made Me Cry: Opening ceremonies of the Olympics and watching Air Force One on TNT.
Best Meal I Ate: Spicy Chicken sandwich from Wendy’s. I could NOT get over how AMAZING it was.
Biggest Airhead Move so Far: Filling out a form for my new library card, I wrote down my birthday as 11/30/08.
One of the best parts of being pregnant so far has been sharing the news! Thanks so much for all the support and enthusiasm. We can’t wait for the baby to meet our wonderful family and friends. =)

Haha. That picture is hilarious. I’m guessing its a girl. Although the thought of you and Josh having a child of your own still doesn’t quite make it through my brain.
All right!!! With the new baby coming, it’s look like we are finally getting some new posts!!! I’m with Kemble…I can’t quite get the whole baby thing in my brain when it comes to you two. So these posts make it very real!!! Keep them coming. Lauren, funny stuff–as usual. As Annie said, these are even better than the classroom stories (and those were hilarious)!!!!
I love it! Bring it on. And since you aren’t teaching, maybe these can happen a little more frequently than the classroom stories.
By the way it is so totally a boy. I think that you, Katie, and Mandy are all going to have boys so that is almost balanced at 4-3. But if one couple is having a boy… it is you. And I think I have the best track record with previous guesses. :)
You’re hilarious! I’m looking forward to more pregnancy stories!
I was also due on March 6th! Didn’t arrive til March 17th though ;)
Lauren, this post made me laugh out loud. :) You guys are going to be such FABULOUS parents! I hope you have a wonderful rest of your pregnancy!
I am so excited that you guys are waiting to find out what you’re having! We’ve waited with all three and it is sooooo worth it : )
